A shoe rack has to fit two things: the room and your footwear. Its outside width, depth, and height tell you where the frame can stand. The usable shelf space tells you whether your shoes can sit on it the way you want.
ROMGUAR CRAFT has four bamboo shoe rack ranges with three listed widths: 18.1 inches for Small, 27 inches for Standard and Thick, and 35 inches for Long. Standard is 11 inches deep; Thick is 12 inches deep. The available heights depend on the range and tier count.
Use the size table below to shortlist a rack, then check the actual location and shoes. All measurements in this guide are listing figures, rather than independent measurements of assembled products.

Read width, depth, and height in the right direction
The table uses W × D × H throughout:
- Width runs from side to side, usually along the wall.
- Depth runs from front to back, out from the wall.
- Height runs from the floor to the highest part of the frame.
Amazon listings sometimes put the letters in a different order. Follow the axis labels rather than assuming the first number is the width.
Take room measurements at the points that will actually limit the rack: between baseboards, beside door trim, beneath hanging clothes, and in front of anything projecting from the wall. Leave room to position the rack and use it; a listing dimension equal to a gap is not a confirmed fit.

Source: the Amazon listing records in our catalog, captured October 17, 2026. Check the exact size and finish on Amazon before buying. One Long rack dimension image shows 35.2 inches while the listing text says 35 inches; confirm the assembled width with the seller if your available space is close to either figure.
For metric measurements, multiply inches by 2.54. The four footprints are approximately 46.0 × 27.2 cm for Small, 68.6 × 27.9 cm for Standard, 68.6 × 30.5 cm for Thick, and 88.9 × 27.9 cm for Long. Metric conversions are rounded to one decimal place.
What changes when you add tiers?
Within each range, the listed width and depth stay the same. Height changes: Standard runs from 13 inches at two tiers to 33 inches at five tiers; Small is 17.5 inches at three tiers or 35 inches at six tiers.
A tier count does not tell you the space between shelves. Dividing total height by the number of tiers cannot establish boot clearance, because that total includes the frame, shelf structure, and space beneath the lowest shelf.
Choose a width and depth for the location
Compare Small for a short wall or narrow closet section. Its 18.1 × 10.7 inch footprint is the smallest in this lineup. For a detailed look at choosing its two heights, see the narrow shoe rack guide.
Compare Standard and Thick when you have room for a 27-inch width. Standard is listed at 11 inches deep; Thick at 12 inches. At two, three, and four tiers, Thick is respectively 1, 1, and 2 inches taller. Standard also offers a five-tier configuration and White and Grey finishes.
The deeper outside frame does not by itself establish more usable shelf depth or a higher load limit. Ask for those details if they determine your purchase. Neither the range name nor a shoe size label confirms that a particular pair will fit.
Compare Long for a longer wall where you want a lower rack. Its listed footprint is 35 × 11 inches, with heights of 13 or 20 inches. That gives you eight more inches of outside width than Standard at the same listed depth.
The approximate floor areas are 1.34 sq ft for Small, 2.06 for Standard, 2.25 for Thick, and 2.67 for Long, calculated as listed width × depth ÷ 144. Those rectangles exclude shoe overhang and the space you occupy while reaching a shelf.
Measure beneath hanging clothes
Measure your closet with the clothes hanging normally. A nominal rod height or an average shirt length cannot tell you the usable space in your wardrobe.
- Measure the lowest obstruction. Check the longest garments that will hang above the proposed rack, as well as shelves, drawers, and fittings.
- Compare that floor-to-obstruction height with the rack height. The remainder has to accommodate shoes on the top shelf and taking them in and out.
- Test with your actual shoes. Check their height in the position you will store them. There is no fixed allowance that suits every shoe and every way of reaching the rack.
- Check access through the opening. Hinged doors, sliding panels, tracks, or a recessed side wall may make part of the closet harder to use.
For example, if you measure 30 inches from the floor to the lowest garment, a 26-inch Standard rack leaves 4 inches above its frame. A 20-inch Standard rack leaves 10 inches. Those are subtraction results, not fit guarantees: the shoes and the motion of removing them still have to work in the remaining space.
If different parts of the wardrobe have different clearances, compare them separately. A lower rack beneath long garments and a taller rack beneath shorter ones may be worth planning, provided both can be reached.
Check your footwear against usable shelf space
For pair capacity, collect the shoes you actually intend to store and arrange them as you would on a shelf. Measure the group’s width, the longest sole, and the tallest shoe or boot.
Compare those figures with usable shelf width, usable shelf depth, and clear height between shelves. Those internal measurements are not confirmed in this catalog. Ask the seller for them if you need a particular number of pairs or a specific boot fit.
Do not subtract an assumed frame thickness from the outside width to invent an interior span. Likewise, a US shoe size is not a measurement of the shoe’s outer sole. Two pairs carrying the same size label can have different outside dimensions.
Check whether your shoes’ heels and soles sit securely on the slatted surface, and account for any toes or heels projecting beyond the rack when measuring the room.
Plan side-by-side racks from the measured span
For a longer closet wall, you can compare the combined listed widths of separate racks. Measure the actual clear span first; do not apply a standard baseboard deduction to a nominal closet size.
| Separate racks placed side by side | Combined listed width | Listed depth to account for |
|---|---|---|
| Standard + Small | 45.1 in | 11 in at Standard; 10.7 in at Small |
| Long + Small | 53.1 in | 11 in at Long; 10.7 in at Small |
| Two Standard racks | 54 in | 11 in |
| Long + Standard | 62 in | 11 in |
| Two Long racks | 70 in | 11 in; confirm the Long width discrepancy noted above |
These sums do not include gaps, placement room, or obstructions. For example, in a measured 48-inch clear span, Standard plus Small uses a listed 45.1 inches, leaving 2.9 inches total for any spacing and clearance. Check the full footprint, height, access, and assembled dimensions before deciding that the combination works.
Treat the racks as separate units. The width calculation does not establish a flush join, a continuous shelf, or compatibility for stacking one rack on another. Use the manufacturer’s instructions for the exact model before considering a stacked setup; this guide does not infer stacking limits from tier counts or matching footprints.
Questions to settle before buying
Is an 18-inch shoe rack exactly 18 inches wide?
The Small range in this guide is listed at 18.1 inches, not 18 inches. Use the stated measurement and confirm it with the seller for a close fit.
How tall is a three-tier shoe rack?
It depends on the range: Small is listed at 17.5 inches, Standard and Long at 20 inches, and Thick at 21 inches. Tier count alone is not a height specification.
Does the Small three-tier rack come in Black?
The current catalog lists that configuration in Natural only. Small six-tier is listed in Natural and Black. Standard’s five finishes include Grey as well as Natural, Brown, Black, and White.
Can a taller rack hold more shoes on the same floor space?
It adds shelves within the same listed footprint for that range. Actual capacity still depends on usable shelf space and your footwear, and you need to be able to reach each shelf.
Shortlist the size, then check the exact variant
Write down the width, depth, and usable height of the location. Run those measurements through the fit tool, then confirm footwear fit and access separately. For front-door placement, the small entryway and mudroom guide compares three room layouts.
The four options below are three-tier racks in Natural so you can compare their sizes directly. The table above links to every other listed height. Each product page lets you choose among the available finishes before opening the exact Amazon listing.
